Chicago's Community West Town
Welcome!
We are two students -- Danylo Sovgut and Hannah Rachlis -- attending Chicago's high school Jones College Prep. We are exploring the West Town community by getting insights on its residents, atmosphere, and significance to the city.
West Town community is located in Chicago 3 miles NW of loop and "its official boundaries roughly corresponding to Bloomingdale on the north, Kinzie on the south, the Chicago River's North Branch to the east, and a shifting western boundary that goes as far as Kedzie." The community is best known by its neighborhoods: Wicker Park, Humboldt Park, and Ukrainian Village. Historically, the community has been a home for a diverse mix of ethnicities (Encyclopedia of Chicago). Some of them include Ukrainians, Polish, and Puerto Ricans.
This website will help you to discover the history, challenges and accomplishments of West Town. The website presents the community through interviews, essays, data graphs, and a video tour. Start exploring West Town now!
